The Crans Montana house is a large family home set into a steep south facing slope in the Swiss resort of Crans Montana. The original outline planning permission was obtained by a local architect and we were then asked by the clients, for whom we had worked on a number of projects in London to further develop the design. The style is not that of a tradition alpine chalet, but serves to reflect the angular mountainous landscape. A essential element of the brief was also to ensure that same landscape was fully displayed through the unusually large and tall windows. The clients also wanted to mirror the complexity of the site to create spacious and striking, multi level interiors.
