6 single family unit development in Islington Year: 2000 Planning permission was granted for the creation of six mews-type houses with a communal garden and individual roof terraces, part of the regeneration of a former industrial site. The communal green area at the heart of the development forms the focus of the scheme and provides views and amenity to all the residential units. Large punctuations are made in the masonry walls, both towards the inner court and the perimeter walls to the adjoining properties, with a combination of clear and translucent glass to allow ample light into the rooms while avoiding issues of overlooking. In addition, the roof-lights formed on the roof contribute further to providing airy and pleasant internal spaces and giving a sense of intimacy to the roof terraces.
