MACLAREN&LASER SHOWROOMS

Year: 2003
Contract value:£210,000

Maclaren is located outside Northampton where the manufacturing of the famous pushchairs originally started. Now that production is entirely overseas, the Client, who owns a number of other companies, has decided to consolidate some of his other companies in the large site of Maclaren site as additional space is readily available.

The brief was to form an exhibition space, together with a conference room and ancillary services for Maclaren so that the distributors could visit the site and become familiar with the products. The Client subsequently decided to make a larger exhibition space and a new design is being developed.

With minor alterations to a section of the building, adequate space was formed for the functions required. Additional skylights were inserted in the roof and artificial lighting for ambient lighting and for the display of goods were incorporated in the building. Everything was designed to serve the display of the products, including the stands.

In another section of the site one of the warehouses was designated for a new showroom for Laser. Laser is the producer of racing boats. With some alterations it was possible to form a large area with a height of over 12m for the display of boats. A mezzanine level was added so that the sales office could function beneath it with the display of boat accessories at higher level.
