This end-of-terrace Nash House in Regent's Park is a Grade I-listed building with the Crown Estate as freeholder.

The work, carried out in two phases, consisted of a new extension and re-landscaping of the internal courtyard, followed by the renovation and partial remodelling of all the interiors.

The courtyard, surrounded by high walls, suffered from lack of light and stimulus before the remodelling.

A delicate glass enclosure was inserted to create a new light-filled interior space with views through a glass wall into a new walled garden.Wider openings in the walls have allowed the interiors to merge with the glass enclosure, creating a light and stimulating space. An elliptical pool is set in the garden and extends further beyond the glass wall of the enclosure; a glazed section of the internal floor gives views of the pool's depth.

The renovation and partial remodelling of the five-storey home which followed included the creation of new living accommodation and a gymnasium at lower ground floor, remodelling of drawing room, family room and kitchen at ground floor, remodelling of a gallery and kitchenette at first floor and finally renewal of all bedrooms and bathrooms on the upper floors.

The palette of materials used included extensive use of large slabs of light-coloured limestone for the public areas, at lower ground and ground floor, complemented by oak timber floors; glass and red Alicante marble in the master bathroom; timber and dark slate or aqua mosaic tiles elsewhere.

The light colours chosen for the internal walls have reinforced the elegant proportions and the understated original design of the principal rooms of the house.

The project has been published in the RIBA Journal, Ville Giardini, Saturday Times and Evening Standard.
